These classes are an opportunity for students to learn the fundamental knowledge, techniques, and skills for designing and developing games. No prior experience in game design is needed for this class. Every student has an opportunity to develop their own game in this fun and educational class. Students need to use their creativity and all the game-making skills they learn in this class to develop their games based on the concepts they have in mind.

 
 
 
 

Game Design

Ages: 9-12

Welcome to CCSA’s Game Design Course - where imagination meets innovation! This class offers children the opportunity to learn the fundamental knowledge and techniques for designing and developing their own video games. Embark on a coding adventure using Scratch, mastering the essentials while progressing to craft your own project-based games. From gathering collectables to creating menu screens and designing health bars, you'll be at the helm of your gaming journey. The course emphasizes UI and UX design, tool engineering, and the fusion of creativity with technical skills. Additionally, students will learn of the history of video games and gain valuable insights into art design, such as pixel art and sprite creation. Our program welcomes all levels of coding experience. Join us in unlocking the potential of budding game designers!

**Students must have their own emails to set up their accounts in Scratch in order to participate in the course.

Game Design

Welcome to CCSA’s Game Design Course - where imagination meets innovation!  This class offers teens the opportunity to acquire fundamental knowledge and techniques for designing and developing their own video games. Master block coding with Scratch and learn how to spawn enemies, summon weapons, and dialogue bubbles! Teens will progress from understanding UI and UX design, tool engineering, and physics programming. They will craft their own project-based games inspired by various video game styles such as combat and visual novels. As teens advance, they'll tackle more complex projects, delving into the creation of open worlds, RPGs, and level design. Discover the history of video games and gain essential insights into both pre and post-game development. From script writing for games to art design, our course ensures we equip the right tools for a rounded understanding of the gaming industry.
