The Canadian Children’s Art Competition is one that will create opportunities for children of all skill levels. We hope to provide the chance of artistic exposure and inspiration for children of all ages around Toronto and the GTA.

This year we are accepting paintings in all mediums and methods under the theme “My City” and everything all around us here in Toronto including people, places, animals, cars, and whatever you can imagine. This theme can be interpreted in any way, and creativity is encouraged.

This competition is hosted and sponsored by The Canadian Contemporary School of Art (CCSA), a school which takes an innovative approach to creative art instruction and provides a warm and welcoming learning environment for all ages.

At The Canadian Contemporary School of Art, we have the opportunity to share and create work with our students and their parents. We aim to expand this joy with all of the children and students of other schools in Toronto. We believe that all children should have the chance and the space to create art, and we are looking forward to providing an opportunity, motivation, and a space to showcase this.

We are inspired to launch this competition in Toronto and the GTA and bring such a competition to a city as culturally rich as ours. Art is such an important part of children’s development and we hope to share its significance with many children and families. Beginning to create art at a young age and receiving positive feedback is extremely important. The Canadian Children’s Art Competition will encourage creativity, and provide a great opportunity for students to step outside of their comfort zones.

This is an exciting opportunity for children and teens to participate in a professional style competition, complete with a jury and artistic recognition. Artwork will be framed and exhibited, and winning entries will be awarded prizes that inspire continued artistic expression. In addition to this, we will put together and distribute a book with a collection of these top entries, as recognition of the accomplishments of our entrants.

Submissions are accepted in three different age groups, 4-8, 9-12, and 13-16.

The Top 100 entries will be published into a collective book of which the top 3 winners in each age group will receive a free copy. Each exhibited submission will have a page in the book and a short description of the artist. This will be a great way to remember the event and submissions, as well as a first step in artistic recognition for young blossoming artists.

The deadline for Submissions is Friday Oct 6th at 6pm EST, submissions must be either mailed or dropped off at CCSA – 109 Vanderhoof Ave. Entrants may submit up to 3 pieces of Artwork.

From November 1st to 30th the pieces will be exhibited at the School.

On November 4th we will host a reception from 4pm to 7pm with light refreshments, families and

community members will be invited to enjoy the artwork and submissions.

On November 20th, National Children’s Day, three winners in each age category will be announced and awarded prizes.

We have three exciting prize packs available for our top three winners in each age group, which will include a variety of art supplies and gift cards to inspire continued artistic creation and expression.

We aim to encourage and inspire creativity in communities that don’t often have the opportunity to express themselves artistically for a variety of reasons. We are inspired to launch this competition in Toronto and the GTA and bring such a competition to a city as culturally rich as ours. We ask for your support in helping us grow, as we help young people to create with purpose and excitement. We are in our first year, and hope for the best and most successful competition, but we know we need to start small. With the success of our Toronto (GTA) competition, we will be expanding to accept submissions from children nationally and internationally. To fully accomplish our goals and ensure the best experience for every child who participates, we are asking for your help and donations.
