SUMMER CAMP 2018

The CCSA Summer Art Day Camp for Children has a special series of classes planned for the summer of 2018. Registration is now open.

A series of week-long art courses provide a fun and structured environment for children to learn about art, and explore their endless creativity. Courses are offered for children aged 4 to 12 years, with classing take place from 9am to 3:30pm weekdays. Children are also welcome to enjoy supervised play on the premises, from 8:00-9:00am and 3:30 to 5pm, for an additional fee. Parents are asked to ensure each child brings their own nut-free lunch and bottled water to classes for each day of the week. The CCSA will also provide a healthy snack daily. On the last day of each course, children will enjoy seeing their work presented in a group exhibition, along with a party to celebrate their accomplishments. 

Creative Practice

Age 6-12 yrs

$450 + HST

(week 1 and week 6 are $400 + HST)

These are Creative Practice weeks, which are specifically tailored toward a combination of subjects rather than a single subject focus.

WEEK ONE: JULY 3 – JULY 6

Saving the Little Black Fish 

Painting – Sculpting – Fashion – Creative Writing

This week we are exploring under the sea! Students will be learning about the different elements about the oceans, and what we can do to save the aquatic environment. They will be creating innovating projects such as fish, and methods to save them, to reflect the material learned within the week. This is an exceptionally informative program for earth-keeping knowledge.

 

WEEK TWO: JULY 9 – JULY 13

A New Home for Baby Elephant 

Painting – Sustainable Architecture – Fashion – Filmmaking – Creative Writing

This week we’re on the safari to find out just about the world of elephants! Students will be learning about the environmental factors that revolve around their habitats and how we can reclaim their homes. They will be creating a project identifying the key factors of sustaining habitats for elephants, moreover they will create a fun animation to tell the tale!

 

WEEK THREE: JULY 16 – JULY 20

How are you doing, Neighbour?

Painting – Sculpting – Puppetry – Acting – Creative Writing 

This week we are exploring the practice of urban design! This encompasses learning about green spaces, pathways, mutual spaces and sustainable architecture. Students will put on their building caps and create projects about their neighbourhood as well as imaginative puppets to present their masterpieces!

 

WEEK FOUR: JULY 23 – JULY 27

Exploring the Jungle 

Painting – Sculpting – Animation – Creative Writing – Sustainable Architecture

This week will be an immersive learning experience. Exploring the topic of the jungle, students will learn about woodland creatures and living specimen. They will create a story and film an informative stop-motion animation project to illustrate their way of life!

 

WEEK FIVE: JULY 30 – AUGUST 3

Unbelievable Creatures Come Alive

Painting – Designing – Sculpting – Puppetry – Creative Writing

This week will be extra imaginative! Students will generate ideas to create fantastical creatures, and will use their problem-solving skills to make them come to life. Students are implored to  design, paint, sculpt and spawn a fantastical creature of their wildest dreams!

 

WEEK SIX: AUGUST 6 – AUGUST 10

Robots Are Coming to Town (Price for this Week Available Upon Request)

Painting – Sculpting – Robotics – Creative Writing

This week will be one for the books as we have our newest endeavour: Robotics! Nowadays is it so important to understand the tech age and get ahead of the curve. Covering a range of subjects such as: painting, sculpting and creative writing, students will be turning gears in their minds and hands to develop their technological skillset and create moving robots.

 

WEEK SEVEN: AUGUST 13 – AUGUST 17

Making a Nest for the Old Stork

Painting – Sustainable Architecture – Photography – Creative Writing 

The sky is the limit for this week at the CCSA. Students will be exploring the creatures of the sky, finding out just what will be the perfect way to create a sustainable bird’s nest for the birds to live in. Following methods of twining, weaving and sculpting, students will come up with a nest for the storks, and they will learn about the environment of the sky!

 

WEEK EIGHT: AUGUST 20 – AUGUST 24

Down the Rabbit Hole 

Painting – Sustainable Architecture – Sculpting – Filmmaking – Creative Writing 

This week we’re taking an adventure down the rabbit hole to a CCSA wonderland! Inspired by dreams, and each student’s imagination, CCSA’s wonderland will be entirely made by students. Down the rabbit hole, they will utilize skills in architecture and planning, painting, sculpting and will lay the foundation for a complete film!

 

WEEK NINE: AUGUST 27 – AUGUST 31

Not Too Cool for School

Painting – Sustainable Architecture – Acting – Creative Writing – Filmmaking

This week we’re designing our own dream school! Exploring the topic of indoor and outdoor spaces, students will be utilizing their imaginations to create a space where they will ideally spend most of their time. Using the skills of painting, architecture, script-writing and filmmaking, they will produce a film of the ideal dream school!

Architecture

Age 6-12 yrs

$450 + HST

(week 1 and week 6 are $360 + HST)

The CCSA hosts classes on architecture, teaching students how to understand the city and observe their environment. The focus of this class is placed on comprehending the value of space, and finding creative solutions to problems. Lessons involving architecture type and history will be included to aid students’ inspiration.

Painting

Age 4-12 yrs

$400 + HST

(week 1 and week 6 are $320 + HST)

The CCSA takes a special approach to teaching painting to kids by hosting them the use of proper techniques and introducing the idea of an artistic vision where there are no standards of perfection. To achieve this an important emphasis is placed on self-expression, art history and a progression from basics to advanced learning for each individual student.

Animation

Age 6-12 yrs

$450 + HST

(week 1 and week 6 are $360 + HST)

The CCSA presents classes on Animation that take a collaborative approach to produce a five-minute long film. Students will be immersed in a professional-like process beginning with a short scenario, materials to be used for the animation, soundtrack development and the stop motion technique used to make the film.

Photography

Age 6-12 yrs

$450 + HST

(week 1 and week 6 are $360 + HST)

The CCSA provides a digital camera for each student to use during this course. Students will progress from black and white photography to learn composition, then transition to colour photography. Studio based classes have a direct focus on portraits, figure studies and still life photography. We encourage students to take in their immediate surroundings with various perspectives to develop their framing and compositional skills.

Filmmaking

(INCLUDES OFF-SITE ACTIVITIES)
Age 6-12 yrs

$450 + HST

(week 1 and week 6 are $360 + HST)

The CCSA provides courses on collaborative filmmaking, placing emphasis on team effort. Based on each film production, students are engaged in the fundamentals of the filmmaking process such as: scriptwriting, set and sound design, make-up, costuming, and avant grade works. We implore students to apply with their finished films to film festivals that accept work by young filmmakers.

Sculpting

Ages 6-12 yrs

$400 + HST

(week 1 is $320 + HST)

The CCSA offers sculpting classes that implore students to expand their imagination by learning about sculptural techniques, carving, modelling and assemblage to create a three-dimensional object. We provide students with an unlimited choice of materials to explore their projects, and encourage individualized artistic visions as well as teaching students about traditional and modernist sculptural artworks.

Fashion Designing

Age 6-12 yrs

$450 + HST

(week 1 and week 6 are $360 + HST)

The CCSA offers fashion design classes that place an emphasis on the conceptualization of the fashion piece. This involves learning the basics of drawing and clothing construction, as well as using fabrics, buttons, recycled materials and the creation of accessories. This class will conclude with a special “cat-walk” show of the student’s creations.

Puppetry

Age 6-12 yrs

$400 + HST

(week 1 and week 6 are $320 + HST)

The CCSA offers a puppetry course designed to the creation of puppet-making, finger and hand puppets, shadow and marionette puppetry. We encourage students to utilize their imagination in which they will design and create their own puppet and later build a story together. At the end of each session, we will present a show for parents to enjoy the puppetry created by students.

Cartooning

Age 6-12 yrs

$ 400 + HST

(week 1 and week 6 are $320 + HST)

The CCSA offers a hands-on experience with cartooning which offers a combination of skills such as drawing, painting, animation with an emphasis on establishing the creative narrative. Key components of this course include scene and location, character and characterization, time and sequence, points of view and narrative resolution.

Textile Printing

Age 6-12 yrs

$ 400 + HST

(week 1 and week 6 are $320 + HST)

The CCSA hosts classes on textile printing that teach students about the role of composition in art, while learning new techniques such as masking, special fabric painting, tie-dyeing, and ready-made stamps on fabric. Lessons involving the history of textiles and printing, as well as the rich global legacy of patterns will are enforced to teach students an overall study of textiles.

This course is available each week all summer.

In addition to our day camps, we also offer:

Before Camp Care for $30.00 + HST per week (8:00-9:00am)
After Camp Care for $50 + HST per week (3:30-5pm)

Summer Camp Cancellation Policy: Cancelled bookings 2 weeks prior to the start date of the camp session will be charged a $150 cancellation fee. No refunds will be provided for bookings cancelled within 2 weeks or less to the start date of the canp session or once camp has commenced. No Exceptions!
